چکیده

In this work, plasma nitriding treatments were performed on ferritic/martensitic stainless steel type 410S at 400 ºC (Low-temperature Plasma Nitriding - LTPN) and 530 (Conventional CPN). The carried out under a 75% N2 -25% H2 gas mixture for 20 hours. After LTPN, layer composed of expanded ferrite/martensite with minor fraction iron nitrides was obtained. CPN, the nitrided surface consists an outermost compound 15 μm thick followed by diffusion zone depth 170 μm. both, CPN LTPN treatments, hardness increases more than four times compared to original non-nitrided results in flat-type transverse hardening profile diffuse-type LTPN. friction coefficients conditions, evaluated progressive linear scratching test, are lower condition without nitriding. wear rate after is half that found non-nitriding condition. corrosion resistance immersion test aqueous solution 3% FeCl3 88 hours shows behavior same as condition, while mass loss higher and, therefore, smaller observed precipitation chromium during CPM leads depletion metal matrix. show feasibility promoting low temperatures improving tribological properties compromising resistance.

Effect of nitriding temperature on the nanostructure and corrosion properties of Nickel coated 304 stainless steel

Nickel films of 150 nm thickness were deposited on 304 stainless steel and post annealed under flow of nitrogen at different temperatures. The prepared samples were corrosion tested in 1.0 M H2SO4 solution using potentiodynamic polarization technique. Crystallographic and morphological structure of the samples were analysed by X-ray diffraction XRD and atomic force microscopy AFM respectively b...

Microstructure, Mechanical and Corrosion Properties of Friction Stir Welding High Nitrogen Martensitic Stainless Steel 30Cr15Mo1N

High nitrogen martensitic stainless steel 30Cr15Mo1N plates were successfully welded by friction stir welding (FSW) at a tool rotation speed of 300 rpm with a welding speed of 100 mm/min, using W-Re tool. The sound joint with no significant nitrogen loss was successfully produced. Microstructure, mechanical and corrosion properties of an FSW joint were investigated. The results suggest that the...

Wear and repair of stainless steel crowns.

AIM The purpose of this study was to determine the wear of stainless steel crowns (SSCs) in children, and compare the extent of microleakage in SSCs that had been repaired using either a cermet glass-ionomer cement (GIC) or a packable composite resin (CR). MATERIALS AND METHODS For the first aim, the occlusal surface thickness of 31 harvested SSCs (21 primary first and 10 second molars) and 1...

Low Temperature Plasma Nitriding of Inner Surfaces in Stainless Steel Mini-/Micro-Pipes and Nozzles

Metallic miniature products have been highlighted as mini-/micro-structural components working as a precise mechanism, in dispensing systems, and in medical operations. In particular, the essential mechanical parts such as pipes and nozzles have strength and hardness sufficient for ejecting viscous liquids, solders, and particles. A low-temperature plasma nitriding process was proposed as a sur...
